Apple Stirs Up New Iphone Talks for September Event
San, Francisco—An Apple insider said that the tech giant is preparing to reveal a new product on a major event on September 12, foreshadowing the long-awaited launch of a redesigned iPhone.
Typically, Apple launches their newest products around fall, just in time for the holiday peak shopping season. On Monday, when reports about the September 12 Apple event surfaced, they traded up 1.7 percent and ended the day at $595.03.
According to iMore, a technology blog that follows Apple events says that event was set for the unveiling of the latest iPhone 5, and that it would start shipping as early as September 5. The fifth version is expected to be thinner, larger screens and smaller dock connectors.
Apple declined to comment on Monday.
Additionally, the blog says that the release date of the new iPad mini and the newest version of iPod nano will be revealed on the same event.
The Dow Jones website AllThingsD confirmed that Apple scheduled a “special event” for September 12 but declined to comment if it is indeed about the iPhone 5. The technology says however that Apple is “ramping up for a big fall product cycle” through stockpiling inventory components.
Earlier this month, Apple reported a slow sales growth than expected and noted that people are delaying purchases in anticipation of the newest product.
According to Apple chief Tim Cook, “we try very hard to keep our product road map secret and confidential. I am not going to put any energy into stopping people from speculating.”
“I’m glad that people want the next thing; I’m super happy about it.” he ended.
